Recent Events causes everyone think of personal safety

There are many events that can create devastation to homes and families. These events can include winds, hurricanes, floods, snow and more. There are a number of things your family should consider doing now, as you know that hurricane season starts in mid-May.

Disaster Prevention

1.     Get a home insurance check-up. We can review your coverage to make sure you have the best possible combination of price, coverage, and service.

2.     Put together an emergency kit to include:

a.     Three day supply of food and water

b.     Medications

c.      Sanitation and personal hygiene items

d.     Flashlight

e.     Whistle

f.       Cash

g.     Photocopies of identification and credit cards

h.     Batteries

i.       Basic tools

j.       Solar power source for smart phone

k.      Dust masks for every family member

l.       Items for infants, such as formula, diapers, bottles, and pacifiers.

m.    First aid kit

3.     Identify a family member or friend who can be used as a central communication point person.

4.     Use your cell phone’s text messaging capability to receive text messages from FEMA.

5.     Know your community warning systems.

6.     Have a family meeting place if your home is destroyed.

7.     Make sure your plans include your family pets.

8.     Put together a home inventory and keep it in a safe place. This will come in handy later.
